After the heavy downpours that affected the Akyazı district of Sakarya, the neighborhood was flooded when the streams overflowed. In a flooded neighborhood, young people from the neighborhood came to the rescue of the imam and congregation who were stranded in the mosque after the Isha prayer. The young people used a small boat they obtained to carry citizens through the floodwaters and get them to their homes.

The severe downpours that continue to affect the entire Sakarya province also had a negative impact on life in Akyazı district. As a result of Yağcılar Creek, which passes through Yağcılar Neighborhood, overflowing, the neighborhood was almost completely submerged. Due to the flood, water levels on streets and roads rose to knee height.
