In Ankara, a tradesman and his friend were beaten by a crowd they had warned about parking a truck in the wrong place. The moment of the fight was captured on the shop's security camera.
PARKING SPACE ARGUMENT TURNS INTO A FIGHT
The incident occurred on 433rd Street, Türközü Neighborhood, Mamak district. According to allegations, Bekir Erden (33) wanted to warn the people who got out of the truck parked in front of his locksmith shop. Erden, saying he needed to go to work, stated that he could not get his car out because of the truck and that the place where they were stopped was not suitable for parking, and requested the vehicle be parked elsewhere. The argument between the crowd, who ignored the warning, and Erden turned into a fight when Erden's friend Muhammet Zeynel (19) tried to intervene to end the dispute.
THEY ATTACKED WITH KICKS AND PUNCHES
The group, claiming they parked the truck to move household goods, beat Erden and Zeynel with kicks and punches for minutes. The fight was ended when police teams dispatched to the scene and other nearby tradesmen intervened, while the injured Erden and Zeynel were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Erden and Zeynel, kept under observation at the hospital for a while as a precaution, filed complaints against the attackers after being discharged. Erden, also claiming they were threatened, stated they would continue their legal struggle.
"THEY STARTED HITTING US NONSTOP"
Speaking about the incident, Muhammet Zeynel said, "The truck had pulled up in front of the shop. The people who came said they were going to carry goods. Since we were going to work, we said we would leave with the car and asked them to move the truck off the road. They didn't agree. At that moment, my older brother Bekir wanted to start his car but couldn't. His car had broken down. Then they attacked my older brother Bekir. They cursed and started hitting him. To protect him, I slightly pushed one of the attackers. Then they started attacking me too. They began hitting us nonstop. At that moment, a police officer was passing by. He intervened with pepper spray against the attackers. Most of the attackers escaped after the incident. They took me to the hospital. I had cuts on my lip and eyebrow. I feel pains in my body. My head was spinning after being beaten. We filed a complaint with the police, and we are suing those who did this to us," he said.
"THEY SAID 'WE WON'T LET YOU STAY HERE'"
One of the victims, Bekir Erden, stated, "The people getting out of the truck had blocked the parking spot. We warned them. The place they parked was not suitable. We didn't want to argue. I told them to move the truck because I had to go to work with my car. Since my car's battery was dead, I had to get out. At that time, a small argument was happening. When I approached them, they punched me. My friend next to me also intervened to separate the fight. Then the other people started attacking both of us. We didn't understand what happened. Later, police teams arrived and intervened in the incident. We filed a complaint against the attackers. We have bruise marks on our bodies. The legal process has started. I didn't know the attackers; it was our first encounter. They threatened us. They said, 'We won't let you stay here,'" he said.
