The Ministry of Trade has banned the sale of the popular "plush goose" toy on the market, citing its failure to meet mechanical safety criteria and its tendency to break into small parts, posing a serious choking hazard for infants and children. The product, deemed unsafe following laboratory analysis and ordered to be recalled from the market, was also shared via the Unsafe Product Information System (GÜBİS) to inform the public.

The Ministry of Trade has determined that the recently popular 'plush goose' toy, introduced to the market, poses a serious choking hazard for babies and children. Following safety analyses, the product's supply to the market has been completely banned, and it has been decided to recall it from the market.

'POSES CHOKING RISK'

In a written statement by the Ministry of Trade, the results of detailed inspections and laboratory analyses conducted as part of market surveillance and control activities were shared. The analyses revealed that the 'plush goose' toy does not meet safety standards. The Ministry stated: 'As a result of our inspections and laboratory analyses, a toy marketed as a "plush goose" was found not to comply with the mechanical safety criteria stipulated in the TS EN 71-1 standard and poses a choking risk by breaking into small parts. Due to this non-compliance, which may pose a serious danger especially for babies and young children, a decision has been made to ban the product's supply to the market and to recall it from the market.'

UNSAFE PRODUCTS ANNOUNCED ON GUBIS

Following the recall decision, the hazardous product has been made available to the public through the Unsafe Product Information System (GUBIS). Emphasizing zero tolerance regarding children's health and safety, the Ministry of Trade stated that inspections will continue resolutely in line with scientific analyses and laboratory examinations to ensure citizens' access to safe products.
