Security camera footage of the moment of the accident that resulted in the deaths of two 13-year-old girls, who lost their lives after being hit by a pickup truck while trying to cross the road in Samsun, has emerged.
The accident occurred on the evening of September 29, 2025, at the Gar Junction on Atatürk Boulevard in the İlkadım district. According to the information obtained, the pickup truck with license plate 55 ADN 702, driven by Sultan Ahmet Y. (20), hit 8th-grade students Rabia Kaynar (13) and Elifnaz Aslan (13) from Gülsüm Sami Kefeli Middle School while they were trying to cross the road when the red light was on for pedestrians. The severely injured children were taken to Gazi State Hospital by ambulance, but despite all interventions, they lost their lives.
PRIMARY FAULT OF THE GIRLS
A lawsuit was filed against the pickup truck driver Sultan Ahmet Y. for "causing the death of two people by negligence" at the Samsun 4th High Criminal Court. In the trial that began yesterday, a report prepared by the Samsun Group Presidency of the Forensic Medicine Institution was presented to the court. The report stated that the girls were at fault for trying to cross the road while the red light was on for pedestrians, and that the pickup truck driver was partially at fault.
HEARING POSTPONED
The court panel decided to send the case file to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution to clarify the fault ratio and to address the missing issues, postponing the hearing to a later date.
