At Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, during a search of 6 female passengers of Uzbek nationality stopped by the police, along with two vehicles that came to pick them up, a total of 166 gold bars weighing 110 grams each and 18 gaming consoles were seized, which were determined to be attempted to be smuggled into Turkey. 7 suspects were detained and arrested. It was reported that 84 of the gold bars were found in the sexual organs of the female passengers during internal examinations and were removed through surgical intervention.
SURGICAL INTERVENTION WAS PERFORMED
The teams of the Smuggling Crimes Investigation Branch, through intelligence work, obtained information that gold would be smuggled into Turkey. On October 2, the police acted and stopped 6 female passengers of Uzbek nationality who arrived by plane from Dubai at the exit of Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, along with two vehicles that came to pick them up. During the search of the vehicles and passengers, 82 gold bars weighing 110 grams each, 18 gaming consoles, and 3 smartphones were seized. Additionally, following a court order, surgical intervention was performed on the Uzbek female passengers, resulting in the removal of another 84 gold bars, each weighing 110 grams, from their sexual organs.
MARKET VALUE IS 55 MILLION TL
The market value of the total 166 gold bars weighing 18 kilograms and 500 grams that were seized is stated to be 55 million TL. 6 Uzbek female passengers caught with the smuggled gold and 1 suspect identified as assisting them were detained. After their procedures at the police station, the 7 suspects were arrested by the court they were brought to at the courthouse.
