The Greek Minister of Defense, Nikos Dendias, announced that they have initiated a comprehensive defense reform process within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for the national security of the country. Dendias stated that this process would be the largest military reform in the country's history and emphasized the necessity of new strategies. In this context, he announced that the anti-drone system named "Kentauros" has been successfully tested and has started to be used in the naval fleet. He also pointed out that the development of the local defense industry is critical for the country's security and economic sustainability. A NEW ERA FOR AIR DEFENSEGreece is developing a new strategy to strengthen its air defense. In this regard, plans are underway to modernize missile defense systems and establish a comprehensive anti-drone umbrella across the country. Dendias stated that these projects would create an integrated defense structure encompassing both land and naval elements. MISSILE SHIELD PLAN IN THE AEGEANGreek Minister Dendias announced a plan to create a new missile shield in the Aegean region, which has been a scene of dominance struggles between Turkey and Greece. "So far, the protection of the Aegean has been provided by our navy and the security of our airspace by our aircraft. However, we will add an innovative dimension to this structure," he said. He expressed that with the missile defense shield and a UAV-Drone counter system, not only military units but all national territories would be protected. Dendias emphasized that the missile wall to be established in the Aegean would provide the region with an impenetrable defense line.
