A total of 4.6 million spectators attended the 72 matches played in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, surpassing the all-time attendance record of 3.5 million set at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
The group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held for the first time with 48 teams, has concluded and the round of 32 has begun. Hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the USA, 72 matches were played in the group stage. These matches were hosted by a total of 16 cities across the three countries.

A record number of spectators was achieved in the first 72 matches of the tournament. A total of 4,644,549 people watched the group matches in stadiums. This figure means that 99.7% of available seats were filled, and an average of 64,508 spectators per match was recorded.
3.5 MILLION RECORD LEFT BEHIND
Fans coming to Canada, Mexico, and the USA to follow the group matches from 210 countries and regions surpassed the all-time spectator record of 3.5 million set at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA. Additionally, on June 25, 2026, the highest single-day tournament attendance was recorded with 426,834 spectators.
