The famous dairy brand Teksüt's product sold under the name "Antep Peyniri" has been found to be a counterfeit. The brand was fined 600,000 Turkish Lira for not producing the product in accordance with geographical indication registration and for misleading advertising.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues its inspections of companies selling adulterated products, while inspections of milk and dairy product brands have been intensified. In the inspections carried out by the Balıkesir Governorship Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the famous dairy giant Teksüt caught the attention of the teams.

ARE THEY DECEIVING WITH THE NAME "ANTEP CHEESE"?

The Directorate determined that the company was imitating the product protected by geographical indication by using the term "Antep Cheese." Following this, the Trade Ministry's Advertising Board intervened. In its review, the Advertising Board concluded that the company misled consumers by promoting a non-registered product as "Antep Cheese."

A FINE OF 600 THOUSAND LIRA WAS IMPOSED

The Board imposed an administrative fine of 600 thousand lira on Teksüt Dairy Products. It was also decided that misleading advertisements should be immediately halted.
