A fine of 123,213 TL was imposed on the business that was throwing crates of tomatoes into the garbage at a vegetable market in Burdur.

The Ministry of Trade has made a statement regarding the image circulating on social media showing tomatoes being thrown away.

The statement emphasizes that the news and posts claiming that vegetables and fruits are being thrown away to increase prices are carefully examined in written, visual, and social media. It is stated that the footage shared on social media on August 8, 2024, showing crates of tomatoes being thrown away, has been examined by our ministry and it has been determined that the incident took place at the Söğüt Wholesale Market in Söğüt District of Burdur. The situation has been documented by conducting an on-site inspection by our Trade Provincial Directorate.
