A DNA sample was taken from the family of Kübra Yapıcı, who was murdered in Burdur, at the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue, where her disfigured body was brought. Father Yunus Yapıcı shared a striking detail about the incident. Stating that the arrested suspects logged into Kübra's social media account after the murder to give the impression that she was still alive, Yapıcı said, 'On the evening of the morning we heard the news, we saw logins and likes on her account. We thought she was alive and rejoiced. But in fact, they had logged in and posted them.'
The body of Kübra Yapıcı (30), who lived in Antalya and had been unreachable since April 30, was found burned last night by teams after investigations. Examinations revealed that Yapıcı was killed by gunshot and buried, then exhumed and burned. İlyas Umut D. confessed to the incident, and during a nighttime operation, Ataberk S. was also taken into custody by teams. In the investigation launched by the Bucak Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the weapon used in the murder was found in the Ağlasun district of Burdur, and part of Yapıcı's body was found in a dam in the Korkuteli district of Antalya.
SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Suspects İlyas Umut D. and Ataberk S. were referred to the courthouse today with a request for arrest after police procedures. The two murder suspects were arrested by the court on charges of "intentional killing of a woman" and sent to prison.
PARENTS PROVIDE DNA SAMPLES
The Yapıcı family arrived at the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institution at noon to retrieve their daughter's body. The parents, who gave DNA samples for identification of their daughter whose body integrity was compromised, appeared extremely sad. After the samples were taken, Kübra Yapıcı's father and mother were taken to the police station for statements. While procedures at the forensic medicine morgue continued, father Yunus Yapıcı made special statements to IHA cameras.
"I WANT WHOEVER IS INVOLVED IN THIS TO GET THE HIGHEST PUNISHMENT"
Stating that his heart is in pain, Yapıcı demanded that penalties for murders of women and children be increased. Yapıcı said, "Such murderers should not be walking around freely. No one's child should be this cheap. They should never see the light of day again. At the very least, I want capital punishment for killers of women and children. There should be no effective remorse for a premeditated murder. Whoever is involved in this, I want them to receive the highest punishment."
"DID I STAND GUARD AT NIGHTS SO MY DAUGHTER WOULDN'T GET COLD, JUST FOR THEM TO KILL HER?"
Thanking the entire Turkish people and authorities, father Yapıcı said, "I can't bear to watch the news, but they tell me. I want to thank the Turkish people and our authorities for their support. From now on, I want this support to continue and not be forgotten. Because this can't go on like this, and it won't. A solution must be found. Only those who experience this pain know. Let everyone empathize and decide accordingly. When she was a child, I stayed awake all night, standing guard. I covered her so she wouldn't get cold and raised her. Was it for this? Only those who experience this know. Let everyone picture their own child and decide accordingly. My only wish is that even the slightest involved person gets at least aggravated life imprisonment."
"WHY DID HE MARK THE SPOT WHERE HE PLACED THE GUN?"
Commenting on the marking of the location where the murder weapon was hidden, Yapıcı said, "Why did he mark the spot where he buried the weapon? So he could retrieve it if he forgot. That means he had a second intention. It's a shame; no one raises their child for this. This tears you apart inside. We don't know what to do. We've lost our minds. Today it's me, tomorrow it's you. We must all say stop together. Long live all of Turkey; may God be pleased with everyone. The people and the state must join hands to end this."
"THEY LIKED POSTS ON HER INSTAGRAM, WE THOUGHT SHE WAS ALIVE"
Claiming the murder was premeditated, the father said, "The evening of the day we got the news, we saw logins and likes on her Instagram. We were happy thinking 'she's alive.' But they had logged in and done it themselves. If they accessed her social media, we thought she was alive, but the next morning we got the news of her death. They tried over 60 times to unlock my child's phone password. And they say she had debts. My child isn't poor to take money from you. You did this to empty my child's IBAN. I don't know if they got the money or not, but I heard they tried and failed."
"SHE HAD AN 80 THOUSAND LIRA WATCH ON HER WRIST"
Yapıcı also said his daughter bought a watch last year for 80 thousand lira, which is now missing. "She had a watch on her wrist that she bought last year for 80 thousand lira; it's gone. They must have taken it too. She had a bag; that's also missing. Maybe there was money in it, so they took it too," he said.
Finally, expressing that his daughter was very tender-hearted, Yunus Yapıcı concluded his words by saying, "She would see a child at the market and buy them something. She would do the same if she saw an elderly person. She didn't deserve this; this shouldn't have happened to her. I lose myself when I think about it. I expect justice from our state and from all of Turkey."
