NEW STATEMENT FROM TRUMP
The long-anticipated war in the region erupted with the retaliations from Iran, which was simultaneously struck by the U.S. and Israel. As fears grow that the war will not be short-lived, a new statement has come from U.S. President Donald Trump.
"I WANT FREEDOM FOR THE IRANIANS"
In a statement to The Washington Post, Trump asserted that he wants 'freedom' for the Iranians. Trump said, "All I want is freedom for the Iranian people. I want a safe nation, and what we will have is exactly that."
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump officially announced in his first statement that the operation against Iran has begun. Trump stated, "The U.S. military has launched a military operation against Iran. The Iranian regime was posing a threat. The 47-year-old Iranian regime was chanting 'death to Americans.' We responded to that."
"OUR GOAL IS TO ELIMINATE THE THREATS FROM THE IRANIAN REGIME..."
Trump, stating, "Our goal is to eliminate the threats posed by the Iranian regime to protect the American people," used the expression, "Iran will never be able to possess nuclear weapons."
Trump said, "We will destroy their missiles and obliterate their missile industries. We will completely eliminate them."
CALL FOR DISARMAMENT
In the final part of his speech, Trump directly addressed various groups within Iran, calling on the Islamic Revolutionary Guards, military personnel, and police to disarm. Trump promised full immunity to those who disarm, stating that those who resist will "face certain death."
TO THE IRANIAN PEOPLE: TAKE OVER YOUR GOVERNMENT WHEN OUR WORK IS DONE
Trump warned the Iranian people to stay in shelters and not to leave their homes, calling for them to take over the government when the operations are over: "It is very dangerous outside; bombs will fall everywhere. Take over your government when our work is done. You have asked for America's help for many years, but no president has done what I am willing to do tonight. Now is the time to take control of your destiny."
