Iran Defense Ministry Spokesman Reza Talaei Nik fired back at Washington, saying, “The US is no longer in a position to dictate to independent countries what to do.” During the process of evaluating Trump’s Hormuz plan, US officials stated that “all exits to war as a solution are locked” due to Iran’s refusal to make concessions on its nuclear program.
Iran delivered a harsh message to Washington as it evaluates a new US proposal to end the war in the Middle East. Iranian Defense Ministry Spokesman Reza Talaei Nik said, 'The US is no longer in a position to dictate to independent countries what to do.'
"WILL HAVE TO ABANDON DEMANDS"
Speaking to state television, Talaei Nik argued that Washington's current approach is unsustainable, stating that 'it will have to abandon its illegal and unreasonable demands.'
TRUMP'S HORMUZ PROPOSAL ON TABLE
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump evaluated Iran's plan regarding the Strait of Hormuz in a high-level meeting held in the White House Situation Room. As the proposal was on the table, eyes in Washington turned to Trump's decision.
NUCLEAR PROGRAM AGAIN A CRISIS HEADLINE
According to US and Iranian officials, the proposal does not include a concrete step regarding Iran's nuclear program. The Tehran administration does not step back from uranium enrichment activities, making this the biggest obstacle to negotiations.
"ALL EXITS BLOCKED"
US officials argue that 'all exits are blocked as a solution to the war' because Iran is not making concessions on the nuclear program. The cancellation of previously planned meetings has deepened this deadlock.
PROCESS CAUGHT BETWEEN PRESSURE AND DIPLOMACY
While the US administration increases economic pressure on Iran, some circles believe this strategy will force Tehran into an agreement. However, those with opposing views argue that Iran is moving to a tougher stance.
