RUSSIA HAD DECLARED A TEMPORARY CEASEFIRE IN UKRAINE FOR EASTER
According to a statement from the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the Russian side would halt all military operations from April 19 at 18:00 until April 21 at 00:00. Russian leader Putin stated, "For humanitarian reasons, starting from today at 18:00, the Russian side declares an Easter ceasefire until midnight from Sunday to Monday. I order the cessation of all military activities during this period."
ZELENSKY HAD SUGGESTED EXTENDING THE CEASEFIRE
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also responded to Putin's statement by saying, "If a complete ceasefire is truly established, Ukraine proposes to extend this ceasefire beyond April 20, when Easter ends."
