US President Donald Trump, in a statement regarding the tensions with Iran, argued that they have achieved military superiority and claimed that Tehran wants to de-escalate, saying, 'They just called me, they want to make a deal.' However, Trump stated that he does not trust Iran, adding, 'I don't think they will stick to the deal.' Regarding the attacks on commercial ships, he said, 'They are kind of going crazy. They are a bit out of control.'
US President Donald Trump made striking remarks while speaking to journalists on a plane following escalating tensions with Iran. Arguing that military superiority has been achieved, Trump claimed Tehran wants to make a deal but stated he does not trust it.
"WE HAVE ALREADY WON MILITARILY"
US President Donald Trump evaluated the recent tensions between the US and Iran while answering journalists' questions on the plane.
Arguing that military superiority has been achieved, Trump said, "There are many ways we can win. But we have already won militarily. They have very little left."
Trump also claimed that the Tehran administration recently contacted Washington, stating, "Iran just called me, they want to make a deal."
"I DON'T BELIEVE THEY WILL STICK TO THE DEAL"
Trump alleged that Iran wants to make a deal but said the biggest issue is a lack of trust.
The US President said, "I don't know if they are worthy of making a deal. I don't think they will stick to the deal."
STRIKING REMARKS ON COMMERCIAL SHIP ATTACKS
Trump also responded to journalists' questions about attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Arguing that the attacks are more a sign of loss of control than a planned strategy, Trump said, "To be honest, they are kind of going crazy. They are a bit out of control. But still, they desperately want to make a deal."
Although Trump did not directly name Iran in his remarks, he was assessed to be referring to the Tehran administration through the attacks on commercial ships.
TENSIONS ESCALATED AFTER ATTACKS
Trump's statements came after the US announced it had struck about 90 military targets along Iran's coastline, and Iran responded by announcing missile and drone attacks on US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
Due to the mutual attacks, security concerns in the Strait of Hormuz increased, oil prices rose, and gold gained value due to demand for safe haven.
