It was claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu planned a major attack lasting for days on October 10 targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, power plants, and critical infrastructure. According to a report by the British Financial Times, US President Trump blocked the operation because he did not want a new war to break out ahead of the midterm elections on November 3. While the attack plan was postponed, it was stated that the possibility of a new military operation against Iran remains on the agenda.

It has emerged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu planned a comprehensive air strike on Iran on October 10 that would last for days, but US President Donald Trump opposed the operation. According to the British Financial Times newspaper, which based its report on three sources, Iran's nuclear facilities, power plants, and critical infrastructure were to be targeted. It was stated that Trump did not want a new war to start before the US midterm elections on November 3.

NETANYAHU ORDERED HIS ARMY TO PREPARE FOR AN ATTACK

According to a report published by the British Financial Times on October 21, Netanyahu instructed the Israeli army in early October to prepare for a large-scale military operation against Iran.

According to three sources aware of the plans, the Israeli army prepared a bombing campaign expected to begin on the weekend of October 10 and last several days.

The operation was intended to be more intense than the military campaign launched by the US and Israel against Iran in February.

NUCLEAR FACILITIES AND POWER PLANTS WERE TARGETED

The attack plan included Iran's nuclear facilities as well as power plants, civilian infrastructure, and strategic locations linked to the government.

It was reported that Israeli officials presented an updated target list prepared in line with new intelligence information to their US counterparts.

It was stated that the list also included infrastructure facilities that were not hit in previous attacks.

TRUMP OPPOSED THE ATTACK AHEAD OF THE ELECTIONS

However, the operation prepared by Israel was not carried out. Sources speaking to the Financial Times reported that the main reason for postponing the attack was opposition from US President Donald Trump.

It was stated that Trump did not want large-scale confrontations with Iran to restart before the US congressional midterm elections to be held on November 3.

In a statement on October 8, the US president had also announced that they would not attack Iran before the midterm elections.

THE POSSIBILITY OF A NEW ATTACK IS ON THE TABLE

Although the attack plan was shelved, it was reported that Israel and the US have not removed military options against Iran from the agenda.

A source quoted in the report said that there is a possibility of a new operation in the coming weeks and that the US could also join a possible attack.

It is assessed that the Washington administration could use military pressure to force Iran to reach an agreement on its nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz.

US DEFENSE SECRETARY WENT TO ISRAEL

It also drew attention that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth visited Israel on Monday, October 19, and met with Netanyahu and senior officials.

It was stated that the meetings took place at a time when discussions continued about a possible new military campaign against Iran. However, it did not become clear whether the US military was planned to directly participate in the operation prepared for October 10.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the army's alert level was raised ahead of the elections to be held in Israel on October 27.

It was reported that Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir suspended soldiers' leave citing election security and ordered units to remain ready.

While Netanyahu's insistence on a new military operation continues, it is stated that the Trump administration has maintained its opposition to an attack before the elections.
