In a press conference held at the White House, U.S. President Trump stated, "We are currently in a trade war with China."
TRUMP: WE ARE IN A TRADE WAR WITH CHINA
U.S. President Donald Trump made a significant statement during a press conference at the White House that is expected to generate much discussion. Last week, Trump announced that they would impose a 100% tariff on China starting from November 1, once again targeting Beijing. Trump used the phrase, "We are currently in a trade war with China."
Trump emphasized that tariffs are an important tool for defense and national security, stating that previous administrations did not feel the need to use tariffs. He mentioned that tariffs not only generate trillions of dollars in revenue but also ensure "the preservation of peace," explaining that tariffs are directly responsible for ending wars.
Trump claimed that "if there were no tariffs, wars would continue all over the world, and thanks to tariffs, there are no wars left except for Russia."
TRUMP'S DECISION FOR A 100% ADDITIONAL TARIFF ON CHINA
In a statement made last week, Trump announced that starting from November 1, they would impose a 100% tariff in addition to the tariff currently paid to China and would implement export controls on all critical software.
U.S. President Trump indicated that China had sent an extremely "hostile" letter stating that they would implement comprehensive export controls on nearly all products they produce, even some products that are not of their own production, starting from November 1, demonstrating an extraordinarily aggressive stance on trade.
Trump noted that this affects all countries without exception and is a plan that has been designed years in advance, stating, "This is something absolutely unheard of in international trade and a moral disgrace in relations with other countries."
"WE WILL IMPLEMENT EXPORT CONTROLS ON ALL CRITICAL SOFTWARE"
Trump stated: "In light of China's unprecedented behavior and speaking solely on behalf of the U.S., not on behalf of other countries facing similar threats, starting from November 1 (or earlier depending on other measures or changes China may take), the U.S. will impose a 100% tariff on top of the tariff currently paid to China. Additionally, we will implement export controls on all critical software on November 1."
