US President Donald Trump, who said he extended the ceasefire with Iran, made a new statement. Giving a new date, Trump said, 'The second round of negotiations with Iran could be on Friday. There could be progress/breakthrough in the negotiations within 36-72 hours.'

Following the announcement by US President Donald Trump that the ceasefire achieved through Pakistan's mediation has been extended indefinitely, new information regarding diplomatic traffic has been shared. Speaking to the New York Post, Trump claimed that contacts with the Iranian side are progressing positively.

TRUMP: PROGRESS/BREAKTHROUGH IN NEGOTIATIONS COULD OCCUR WITHIN 72 HOURS

Trump announced that the second round of negotiations between the parties could take place this Friday. The US President said, "Progress/a breakthrough in negotiations could occur within 36-72 hours." In the possible talks, the security of maritime trade in the region and restrictions on nuclear activities are expected to be the most critical items on the table.

TRUMP HAD EXTENDED THE CEASEFIRE INDEFINITELY

US President Donald Trump announced that, also at Pakistan's request, he decided to extend the ceasefire until Iran presents its proposal regarding the agreement.

While uncertainty regarding negotiations with Iran continues, US President Trump made an important statement from his Truth Social account.

Arguing that the Iranian administration is "divided," Trump announced that, taking into account Pakistan's request regarding the ceasefire as well, he has extended the temporary ceasefire that was due to end today.

In his statement, US President Trump used the following expressions: "Given the fact that the Iranian administration is in serious division and at the request of Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif from Pakistan, we were asked to suspend our attack on Iran until their leaders and representatives present a joint proposal. Therefore, I have instructed our military to maintain the blockade and remain prepared in all aspects; thus, I will extend the ceasefire until (Iran's) proposal is presented and negotiations are concluded in some way."

FIRST COMMENT FROM IRAN ON THE US CEASEFIRE DECISION

Regarding the US's unilateral decision to extend the ceasefire, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi said, "We will take a step when we conclude that a logical and necessary ground has been formed to fulfill Iran's interests and consolidate the gains of the Iranian people."

According to the Iranian press, Bekayi made statements regarding the extension of the ceasefire.

Stating that Iran closely monitors developments on the ground and will take necessary measures to protect its national interests, Bekayi said, "The Iranian Armed Forces are also prepared to protect the country against any kind of threat and attack. Diplomacy is a tool for ensuring national interests and security. We will take a step when we conclude that using this tool has created a logical and necessary ground to fulfill Iran's interests and consolidate the gains of the Iranian people."

Bekayi also noted that his country will utilize all opportunities and means to hold "aggressors and war criminals" accountable and obtain compensation.

"NEGOTIATIONS CAN BE HELD IF THE BLOCKADE IS LIFTED"

Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Amir Saeid Iravani, stated that they have received signs that the US is ready to stop its "maritime blockade" and that if the US ends the blockade, the next round of talks could be held in Pakistan.

According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Iravani evaluated the talks planned to be held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, but not held due to the maritime blockade imposed by the US on Iran.

Stating that the US violated the ceasefire agreement, Iravani said, "We told them they need to lift the blockade. We received signs from them that they will stop the blockade. Thus, the second round of negotiations can take place in Islamabad."

The US, which decided on a "maritime blockade" against Iran, had attacked and seized 2 Iranian commercial vessels.
