It has been announced that Marc Fogel, an American teacher who was detained three years ago for possession of medical marijuana in Russia, has been released.
TRUMP WELCOMED AT THE WHITE HOUSE
Fogel, wrapped in the American flag, arrived at the White House last night and was welcomed by Trump. Trump stated that he was "honored to have played a small role" in Fogel's release. Trump mentioned that the conditions of Fogel's release would be announced today.
"THERE IS GOODWILL IN TERMS OF WAR"
When asked whether the release could be the beginning of a peace agreement, Trump said, "There is goodwill in terms of war" and praised Russian President Vladimir Putin for his role. Answering questions in the Oval Office, Trump did not respond to inquiries about what the U.S. offered Russia for the release of the American citizen.
"WE MUST END THIS WAR"
Trump stated, "Not much. They were very kind. In fact, Russia treated us very well, and I hope this is the beginning of a relationship where we can end this war and stop the killing of millions of people.... We must end this war."
ANOTHER U.S. CITIZEN WILL BE RELEASED
Trump confirmed that another U.S. citizen is expected to be released but did not provide further details on the matter. There are still many American citizens detained in Russia. U.S. media reported that at least two of these citizens are being held unjustly, identified as Stephen Hubbard and Russian-American dual citizen Ksenia Karelina.
