GAZA PEACE COUNCIL MEMBERS ARE HEADING TO THE U.S.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that member states of the Gaza Peace Council will gather at a meeting in Washington on Thursday.

Trump stated in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, "On February 19, 2026, I will meet again with the members of the Peace Council at the Donald J. Trump Peace Institute in Washington D.C. Here, we will announce that member states have pledged more than $5 billion in donations for humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in Gaza," he said.

He also added that member states have "allocated thousands of personnel to the International Stabilization Force and local police organization to ensure security and peace for the Gazans."

Last month, the White House announced that as part of a 20-point plan prepared by Trump for the war-weary region, a "technocratic" National Committee for Gaza Governance had been established to oversee the transfer of authority.

CEASEFIRE AND PRISONER EXCHANGE AGREEMENT IN GAZA

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that during ongoing negotiations in Egypt on October 9, 2025, Israel and Hamas approved the first phase of a ceasefire plan in Gaza, which came into effect the next day with the approval of the Israeli government. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) decided to support the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict announced by Trump on September 29, 2025, with its resolution 2803 dated November 17, 2025.

TRUMP HAD ALSO INVITED TURKEY TO THE PEACE COUNCIL

While the Israeli army continued its attacks on Palestinians with various claims despite the ceasefire reached in the Gaza Strip, Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, announced on January 14 that the second phase of the 20-point Gaza plan had been initiated. It was also announced that the National Committee for Gaza Governance, composed of Palestinian technocrats, was established under the leadership of Ali Shaas.

In this context, a Peace Council chaired by Trump was formed, and Trump invited President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as a founding member of the "Peace Council," responsible for the reconstruction and security of Gaza. The new structure includes three main bodies: the "Peace Council," the "Peace Management Board," and the "Gaza Management Board." A signing ceremony for the "Gaza Peace Council Charter" was held in the town of Davos, Switzerland, on January 22.
