U.S. President Donald Trump, who has been in the spotlight for his policies towards irregular immigrants, is preparing to send hardened criminals from prisons to foreign countries for "a small fee."
U.S. President Donald Trump attended a conference organized for Republicans in Miami. According to a report on NBC, Trump announced in his speech here that he plans to send prisoners from prisons to foreign countries for "a small fee" as a cost-saving measure.
"WE WILL SEND THEM FOR A SMALL FEE"
Trump, who said, "If they have been arrested multiple times and are involved in numerous crimes, I want to remove them from our country," added, "I hope we get approval to send them to hell out of our country. Let them be sent to a foreign country and taken care of for a small fee. It is much more costly for us to take care of them here."
"THEY GAIN THE FREEDOM TO COMMIT CRIMES"
Stating that sending criminals to another country would reduce crime rates, Trump said, "Some of these people involved in disgusting crimes like pushing people in front of oncoming subway trains, hitting them in the head with baseball bats, punching elderly women in the face, knocking them out, and stealing their bags are arrested 30, 35, or even 41, 42 times. However, when they are released, they commit crimes again; they are practically free to commit crimes."
ENGLAND WAS ALSO SENDING PRISONERS TO AMERICA
Trump's statement brought to mind England's practice of sending prisoners to American colonies in the early 18th century. After the American Revolution, England stopped sending prisoners to the continent and later sent them to Australia.
IT HAD CAUSED A U.S.-COLOMBIA CRISIS
On the other hand, Trump had sent irregular migrants to Colombia on a U.S. plane, but Colombia did not allow the plane to land. This situation caused a brief crisis. The crisis ended with Colombia backing down after threats exchanged between Colombian President Gustavo Petro and U.S. President Trump.
