The Governorship of Burdur was appointed to Tülay Baydar Bilgihan with the Presidential decree dated September 18, 2024, published in the Official Gazette. Governor Bilgihan became the first female governor of the city, while the current governor Türker Öksüz became the Governor-Inspector General. CURRENT GOVERNOR MOVED TO THE CENTERIn the Official Gazette dated September 18, 2024, the governors of 16 provinces were changed with the decision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Accordingly, Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, who was serving as the Deputy General Director of Personnel at the Ministry of Interior, became the new Governor of Burdur. BURDUR'S FIRST FEMALE GOVERNORTülay Baydar Bilgihan, who was appointed as the Governor of Burdur while serving as the Deputy General Director of Personnel, became the city's first female governor. WHO IS TÜLAY BAYDAR BİLGİHAN?Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, who was appointed as the Governor of Burdur, was born in Tutak district of Ağrı in 1978. After graduating from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Gazi University in 1998, she started her career as a District Governor candidate in 2000 and, after a training lasting about three years, served as the District Governor of Isparta-Yenişar Bademli, Erzurum-Köprüköy, Malatya-Hekimhan, Denizli-Kale and Babadağ, Erzincan Deputy Governor, Yalova-Armutlu District Governor, Kayseri-Hacılar District Governor, Branch Manager and Identity Cards Department Head at the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, and served as the District Governor of Ankara-Gölbaşı between 2017-2022. Baydar Bilgihan started her duty as the Deputy General Director at the General Directorate of Provincial Administration on August 26, 2022. She was appointed as the Deputy General Director of Personnel at the General Directorate of Personnel with the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette dated August 24, 2023. Bilgihan, who prepared her thesis on "Management Ethics Studies in the UK" as a result of her master's studies in the field of Management Sciences at Ankara University Institute of Social Sciences, also completed her master's degree on European Union studies at Portsmouth University in the UK, where she was sent by the Ministry of Interior in 2008, and her thesis was on "The Role of Environmental NGOs and the Problem of Democratic Deficit in the EU". Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan was awarded the "Honorary Diploma" by the Turkish National Olympic Committee in 2006 for her efforts to ensure the education of girls in Köprüköy district of Erzurum, and she was honored with the "Outstanding Service Award of Martyr District Governor Muhammet Fatih Safitürk" by the Turkish Administrators Association in 2022 for her work in Gölbaşı district. Governor Baydar Bilgihan, who speaks English fluently, is married and has two children.
