Turkey has started a march in Sarıkamış with the theme "There is permission in this land."

Citizens gathered in the Sarıkamış district of Kars to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Sarıkamış Operation began their march.

THEY CAME FROM ALL OVER TURKEY

A large number of young and old people from many provinces and abroad gathered at the Kızılçubuk Summit between Soğanlı and Allahuekber Mountains to participate in the commemoration event themed "There is permission in this land" and "Turkey Marches with its Martyrs," which will take place early in the morning.

Participants who reached the summit by buses from the city center and Sarıkamış district arrived at the gathering area by walking with Turkish flags. Citizens took photos in front of the snow sculptures made in memory of the martyrs in the Kızılçubuk region.

DESPITE THE COLD WEATHER, A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ATTENDED

Many people attended the martyrdom commemoration program organized as part of the 110th anniversary events of the Sarıkamış Operation, which was initiated by the Ottoman army under the command of Enver Pasha to liberate the territories under Russian occupation during World War I, despite the cold weather.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Secretary General of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Talip Uzun, Kars Governor Ziya Polat, AK Party Kars Deputy Adem Çalkın, Sarıkamış District Governor Enis Aslantatar, and many politicians and bureaucrats attended the gathering area. Gendarmerie and police teams took extensive security measures along the routes.

"THE LOVE OF HOMELAND THAT WARMS US"

Under the coordination of the Kars Provincial Health Directorate, UMKE and 112 Emergency Service teams were deployed for citizens due to the cold weather and frost along the walking route. Meanwhile, the Red Crescent teams set up tents at the gathering area and offered tea and soup to the participants. Mecit Birsen, who participated in the march, stated that they would walk today for the martyrs and the homeland, and in the coming days for future generations, saying, "We are cold here, but it was the love of the homeland that warmed those who became martyrs on this land, and it is the love of the homeland that warms us." Melisa Papakçı also said they came to Sarıkamış to commemorate the martyrs.

AFTER THE PRAYERS, THEY BEGAN THE MARCH

Thousands of people holding Turkish flags began to march towards the Ay-Star Ceremony Area after reading the Quran and praying for the martyrs with takbirs and salawat in the cold weather. After the march along the 4.5-kilometer route, where the gendarmerie took extensive security measures, participants will pray for the martyrs after the recitation of the Quran at the martyrdom they will reach.
