In Iran, the Supreme Court sentenced singer Emir Hossein Maksudlu, also known as "Tataloo," to death on charges of 'insulting the prophet' after he was deported from Turkey in December 2023.

FOUND GUILTY OF INSULTING THE PROPHET
According to a report by AFP based on the Iranian newspaper Etemad, Tataloo's previous 5-year prison sentence for 'insulting religion' was overturned following an appeal by the prosecutor. The Supreme Court, which re-examined the case, sentenced the 37-year-old singer to death this time for 'insulting the prophet'. According to the report, there is a right to appeal the decision.
HE WAS EXTRADITED TO IRAN
Tataloo, who is considered one of the most colorful figures in the hip-hop and rap world in Iran, lived in Turkey for many years and was extradited to Iran in December 2023. Since that date, Tataloo has been detained in his home country.
HE WAS SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR PROSTITUTION
Tataloo, who was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison for 'prostitution', was also accused in other cases of 'propagating against the Islamic Republic' and 'publishing obscene content'.
