Turkey's giant beverage brand Aroma is selling everything it has.

Turkey's giant beverage brand Aroma is selling everything it has.

19.12.2024 08:20

The global economic crisis has led many companies to declare bankruptcy, and the latest addition to this list is Aroma. It has been claimed that Aroma, a well-established company in the beverage sector, may seek concordat, but no decision had been reported. The truth about the giant company, which was rumored to be sold to Doğuş Çay, emerged during the company's general assembly call.

Aroma Bursa Fruit Juices and Food Industry Inc., established in Bursa in 1968, is up for sale. The following agenda item from the general assembly announcement made by the Board of Directors of Aroma Bursa Fruit Juices and Food Industry Inc. on December 14, 2024, caught attention;

"The transfer and sale of the immovable properties located at Bursa Province, Gürsu District, Kurtuluş Neighborhood, OSB Location, Parcel 3164, Bursa Province, Gürsu District, Kurtuluş Neighborhood, OSB Location, Parcel 3173, Bursa Province, Kestel District, Derekızık Neighborhood, Danalanı Location, Parcel 1131, Parcel 18, Bursa Province, Kestel District, Derekızık Neighborhood, Danalanı Location, Parcel 1131, Parcel 1, Bursa Province, Kestel District, Derekızık Neighborhood, Danalanı Location, Parcel 1131, Parcel 17, and all kinds of machinery, equipment, fixtures, buildings, infrastructure - superstructure arrangements at these addresses, as well as the transfer and sale of the company's brand rights, licenses, and all kinds of rights and permits"….

NO OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE COMPANY

This item in the general assembly announcement published on ilan.gov.tr raises the question "What is happening?" while no official statement has yet been made by the company regarding the matter. In a news article signed by İdriz Çokal published in Para Magazine at the beginning of the week, it was stated that "The Duruk Family is said to have sold Aroma, one of Turkey's oldest brands, to Doğuş Tea. Since no official statement has been made yet, we cannot express it clearly, but let us note that the food sector is currently discussing this sale," which confirmed the rumors. The announcement made by the company corroborates this rumor.

Recently, rumors about the company applying for concordat have also been discussed in economic circles, but there has been no official application or statement confirming this. In November 2018, Duruk, speaking to Sabah newspaper, stated, "A bank can easily push you into bankruptcy. Concordat is a real opportunism. The business world is abusing this. Families that go for concordat cannot erase that stain. The family is ruining the reputation of future generations. Everyone is doing this like a trend right now, but it's a big mistake."

GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN BURSA

The general assembly of Aroma Bursa Fruit Juices and Food Industry Inc. will be held on December 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Yenidoğan OSB Neighborhood, Atatürk Avenue, No. 232, Gürsu / BURSA.
