Following two severe earthquakes of magnitudes 7.5 and 7.2 that occurred in Venezuela, AFAD and TSK search and rescue teams, who arrived in the region, started a race against time to rescue disaster victims trapped under the rubble of a collapsed 14-story building in La Guaira city.
Turkish search and rescue teams, who arrived in Venezuela affected by two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.5 and 7.2, have begun their operations.
AFAD AND TSK TEAMS ARE ON DUTY
The search and rescue teams from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), who arrived in the most affected city of La Guaira, proceeded to the La Paez neighborhood upon a report that there might be live persons trapped under the rubble of a collapsed 14-story building.
The teams, also coordinating with Spanish search and rescue teams working in the area, continue the necessary search and rescue efforts.
INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM LOCAL RESIDENTS
Local residents shared the information that the collapsed 14-story building contained 43 apartments, of which 41 were occupied.
Residents, stating that there have been live rescues from the rubble previously, also noted that a person pulled from the rubble provided information about other individuals still trapped under the debris.
