Two soldiers in the UK were caught in an inappropriate situation in the cockpit of an Apache attack helicopter. The couple, believed to be intoxicated, was found half-naked by their fellow soldiers. The two soldiers were trapped in the rear cockpit of a two-seat AH-64 helicopter equipped with a 30 mm cannon and Hellfire missiles. The incident was uncovered by the ground crew who came to install a rain cover on the helicopter after night maintenance. A source noted that unusual sounds were heard while the rotors were swaying up and down. The air safety report stated: "Two individuals were seen in an inappropriate situation in the rear cockpit. The male, dressed in uniform, was naked from the waist down, while the female was in civilian clothes. They were ordered to exit the cockpit and get dressed. Both were on duty soldiers and showed signs of intoxication." The helicopter belonged to the Army Air Corps' 653 Squadron, but the soldiers are believed to be from the Royal Artillery. The incident occurred in 2016 at the Otterburn firing range in Northumberland, but it only came to light due to a computer error. Sources indicated that security measures for the helicopters were increased after the incident.
