In the Yavuzeli district of Gaziantep, 13-year-old Murat and his 15-year-old brother Muhammet Mahmut Telli drowned after entering a water-filled pit dug for construction to cool off. The gendarmerie has launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

THEY STARTED STRUGGLING AS SOON AS THEY ENTERED

The incident occurred in the rural Örenli neighborhood of Yavuzeli district. According to reports, four friends, including siblings Murat Telli (13) and Muhammet Mahmut Telli (15), entered a pit filled with water dug for construction in the rural area of the neighborhood to cool off. Shortly after, they began struggling in the water. The other children, unable to save their friends, got out of the water and reported the situation to the locals.

TWO SIBLINGS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL COULD NOT BE SAVED

The locals who arrived at the scene pulled the two siblings out of the water unconscious and handed them over to 112 Emergency Health teams dispatched to the area upon notification. After initial intervention by health teams, Murat Telli was taken to Yavuzeli State Hospital, and his brother Muhammet Mahmut Telli was taken to Şehitkamil State Hospital OSB Annex Building, but they died despite all interventions. The bodies were taken to the Gaziantep Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.

A comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched by gendarmerie teams.
