TYT champion Abdullah announced his goal: He will follow in his father's footsteps

21.07.2026 17:00

Abdullah Uslu, who scored a perfect score in the TYT and shared first place, was motivated by his 63-year-old grandfather Hayrettin Üçüncü, who took the same exam. Abdullah stated that he achieved success through disciplined study and social activities. Also revealing his goal, Abdullah said he wants to become an engineer like his father but has not yet decided which engineering department to study.

Abdullah Uslu, one of the candidates who shared first place with a perfect score on the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) according to the results of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS), was first congratulated by his 63-year-old grandfather Hayrettin Üçüncü, who took the exam with him to provide support.

The results of the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS), awaited by millions of candidates, have been announced. According to the results announced by the Measurement, Selection, and Placement Center (ÖSYM), among the 5 people who shared first place with a perfect score in TYT was Abdullah Uslu, a student at Eskişehir Fatih Science High School, whose family lives in Bilecik.

HE OWES HIS SUCCESS TO DISCIPLINED STUDY

Abdullah Uslu, residing with his family in the Ertuğrulgazi neighborhood of Bilecik city center, stated that he ranked first in the TYT exam and feels proud and happy about it, saying, 'I generally carried out my studies in a regular and disciplined manner. With the contribution of my accumulated knowledge from the past, I increased the pace a bit more in the final year. At the same time, I rested when I needed to rest and took holidays when I needed to take holidays. However, during the times I studied, I made sure to work with full performance.'

HE PREPARED FOR THE EXAM AND ALSO TOOK AN ACTIVE ROLE IN THE THEATER CLUB

Abdullah Uslu stated that he also actively took part in the theater club of his school, Eskişehir Fatih Science High School, for three years, saying, 'I tried not to compromise much on my social life until the last year. I think these had positive contributions to my success. Even in the last year, I had one day off per week. I believe this is really important. When a person rests efficiently, the subsequent studies become equally efficient.'

"I DID NOT MISS ANY ACTIVITIES"

Uslu stated that he did not miss any activities while preparing for the exam, saying, 'In my free time, I played musical instruments, spent time with friends, and tried to do activities that cleared my mind. When I distanced myself enough from lessons and returned, I was able to focus on my lessons much more efficiently. I believe if people can maintain this discipline, order, and study cycle for one year, or even four years if they wish, they can achieve a good result.'

HE ANNOUNCED HIS GOAL

Abdullah Uslu stated that his goal is to become an engineer like his father, saying, 'Currently, my goal is to study engineering. However, I haven't decided which branch of engineering to choose yet. There are also very successful universities in our country. I plan to research more thoroughly during the preference period and make the most correct decision.'

NOTEWORTHY STUDY METHOD

Abdullah Uslu, who is among the candidates sharing first place with a perfect score in TYT, said in the continuation of his statement, 'During this process, I never counted the number of questions or study hours. Instead, I identified topics for myself and gave myself tasks related to those topics. First, I studied the topic, then solved questions about it. As I said, counting hours or questions was never important to me. Except for times when I rested, I was either studying topic explanations or solving questions.'

GRANDFATHER TOOK THE EXAM WITH HIS GRANDSON TO SHARE THE EXCITEMENT

After learning the results, grandfather Hayrettin Üçüncü called to congratulate his grandson, and Abdullah Uslu shared a special detail about him, saying, 'I have a grandfather living in Trabzon. He is 63 years old. To motivate me, he took the TYT exam on the same day to share the same excitement with me, even from a distance. Here, the important thing was not my grandfather's results, but that he shared the same excitement with his grandson on the same day. His results were not bad considering his age and that he didn't study at all.'

"WE WERE EXPECTING THIS"

Father Mehmed Bahri Uslu said, 'The result Abdullah achieved—we were expecting a good result, and he crowned it with first place. So we are especially proud. He went through this process away from us, but we were always by his side. However, we never put pressure on him. Because Abdullah has been a self-confident, planning, and responsible person since childhood. He focused completely like this in the last year, and we achieved this result. We are very happy and proud. May Allah make his path and fortune bright.'

Mother Deniz Uslu said, 'Since we learned Abdullah's results this morning, we have been very happy and excited. He made us very proud as always. By studying with discipline and care, and fulfilling his responsibilities as always, he achieved great success. Hopefully, his path will be open, and his successes will be everlasting.'
