Speaking to a U.S. television, Bessent warned trade partners not to retaliate against Trump's tariffs. "My advice to every country right now is, do not retaliate," said Bessent, adding, "Sit back, accept what is happening. Let's see how it goes. Because if you retaliate, there will be tension. TRUMP ANNOUNCED NEW TARIFFS

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that new tariffs would be implemented against the high tariffs imposed on his country. "We will impose a tax of at least 10% on almost all goods imported into the U.S. We will impose a 25% tariff on all cars produced abroad," Trump stated, adding, "To all foreign presidents, prime ministers, kings, queens, ambassadors, and everyone else who will soon be calling to request exemptions from these taxes, I say, end your own taxes, remove your barriers, do not manipulate your currencies." Trump emphasized, "The U.S. can no longer continue a policy of unilateral economic surrender. We must look after our own people."
