The young athlete, who started boxing at the age of 5 under the guidance of her coach father Özgür Arlı and has 8 Turkish championships, is in a friendly rivalry with her older brother Muhammed Ali Arlı, who became a European champion last year. Arlı's goal is to represent her country at the 2032 Olympics.
Ümmü Gülsüm Arlı (14), living in Samsun, achieved a European championship in boxing, which she started thanks to her father, a boxing coach, and her brother, a professional boxer. Ümmü Gülsüm Arlı said, "I want to participate in the Olympics in 2032, achieve a good result there, represent my country and wave my flag at the top."
Ümmü Gülsüm Arlı, who competes in the Samsunspor Boxing Team, started this sport at the age of 5 with the support of her father Özgür Arlı, a boxing coach at Samsunspor, and her brother Muhammed Ali Arlı, a professional boxer. Ümmü Gülsüm Arlı, who has so far won 8 Turkish championships, 1 European third place and most recently the European championship in the boxing sport she started at a young age, stated that her next goal is to represent her country in the best way by participating in the Olympics in 2032. Ümmü Gülsüm, who also said she recommends the sport to all her young girlfriends, said, "I invite all our girlfriends and sisters to sport. I think doing sport has a great contribution in terms of self-confidence and socialization. It also has very important benefits for the future. I think doing sport is very good for health as well."

Stating that her goal is to wave the flag at the top in 2032, Ümmü Gülsüm said, "I have been involved in combat sports since I was 5 years old. My father Özgür Arlı is also my coach. He started me in sport at the age of 5. I want to participate in the Olympics in 2032, achieve a good result there, represent my country and wave my flag at the top. I aim to have the Turkish National Anthem heard in many countries. I have been fighting on behalf of Samsunspor for two years. My brother Muhammed Ali Arlı also competes on behalf of Samsunspor. There is a little rivalry between us. He has 9 Turkish championships and I have 8. I am trying to surpass him. Last year he became European champion, and I was European third. This year I also became European champion. In this way I am trying to surpass him. There is a sweet rivalry between us. In fact, after becoming European champion, while exiting the ring I shouted, 'Brother, I finally caught up with you.' So I consider myself to have surpassed him."
HER FATHER: THE GOAL IS OLYMPIC CHAMPIONSHIP
Expressing that he is proud of his daughter and that they will achieve many more successes, Father Özgür Arlı said, "I am both the coach and father of Ümmü Gülsüm Arlı and Muhammed Ali Arlı. Ümmü Gülsüm Arlı has achieved a great success and made a name for herself frequently. In fact, our federation president made an assessment like, 'This girl has attracted a lot of my attention. She will be a good athlete in the future.' This year she showed how right that was by drawing attention and became European champion. There is also a beautiful, sweet rivalry between Ümmü Gülsüm and her brother. Her brother has always been one step ahead of Ümmü Gülsüm until today. This rivalry continued until Ümmü Gülsüm became European champion. With the European championship, this time Ümmü Gülsüm moved one step ahead. We spoke with her brother by phone a little while ago. Her brother also aims to go to the Olympics. He joked, 'I will be Olympic champion. Look how I am surpassing her. She will no longer be able to catch me.' I hope her brother will also succeed as the only male athlete from Turkey to participate in the Olympics. We wish him success, may his path be open. We aim for Ümmü Gülsüm to compete in the Olympics in 2032. However, until then, we want her to also achieve championships in all European and world championships she participates in. Because these things progress step by step, stair by stair. If we climb the steps with the right steps and progress stronger at each stage, in return we can reach the championship goal in the Olympics, which we see as the summit in the future."
