In Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district, 23-year-old Mazlum K. and Mahsun K. were shot at with a gun by a person they did not know. During the pursuit of the attack suspects, a drug production facility was uncovered in a shanty house in Örnektepe Neighborhood; 135 kilograms of pregabalin and 40,000 drug pills were seized. Three suspects who were caught were arrested. It was learned that the attack suspect, 18-year-old Efecan Y., said in his statement that he was drunk and did not remember why he fired.
The operation launched to catch the suspect who opened fire on 2 people on the street in Beyoğlu uncovered a drug manufacturing facility. The moment of the attack was also caught on security camera.
A PERSON THEY DID NOT KNOW OPENED FIRE
In Yenişehir Neighborhood, on Monday, November 2, at around 17:30, Mazlum K. and Mahsun K. were fired upon with a gun by a person they did not know. The attacker fled the scene. Following a tip-off, teams from the Beyoğlu District Police Department Public Order Bureau Branch arrived in the area and launched an investigation.
THEY SAID THEY HAD NO FEUD
Police examining the surrounding security cameras took statements from the attacked Mazlum K. and Mahsun K. It was learned that in their statements, the two said they had no feud with anyone and did not know why they were attacked.
Continuing its work, the police determined that the attack suspect was Efecan Y. It was established that after the attack, Ömer K. (18), who came by motorcycle, took Efecan Y., who was waiting on another street, away from the area.
THE RENTED MOTORCYCLE GAVE HIM AWAY
Police determined that Efecan Y. had rented the motorcycle. Teams found the rental motorcycle parked in Yenişehir Neighborhood and began surveillance in the area. Ömer K., who came to the street to get on the motorcycle, was caught. Police, who determined that Efecan Y. was in a shanty in Örnektepe Neighborhood, also caught the suspect as he came out of the shanty.
DRUG MANUFACTURING IN THE SHANTY
After the search warrant was obtained, police teams entered the shanty and detained Gülse B. (19) there. It was alleged that Gülse B. was manufacturing by filling synthetic pharmaceutical capsules with drug raw material.
The following were seized in the search conducted at the shanty:
A total of 135 kilograms of pregabalin, a synthetic pharmaceutical drug raw material, in 7 sacks, 40,000 drug pills, 250,000 empty capsules ready to be filled, 400 empty synthetic pharmaceutical boxes, and the machine and apparatus used for filling pills.
“I DON’T REMEMBER WHY I FIRED” STATEMENT
It was learned that in his first statement to the police, Efecan Y. said he was drunk and did not remember why he fired. It was determined that among the suspects, Efecan Y. had 1, Ömer K. had 8, and Gülse B. had 7 criminal records.
Security camera footage of the moment of the attack has also emerged. The footage shows the moments when the suspect opened fire with a gun.
3 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Gülse B., one of the suspects whose procedures at the police station were completed, was referred to the courthouse on charges of “manufacturing and trading drugs.” Efecan Y. and Ömer K. were referred to the courthouse on charges of “intentionally endangering general safety,” “attempted intentional injury,” and “manufacturing and trading drugs.” The 3 suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before and sent to prison.
