Addressing drivers flocking to the industrial zone as the weather gets colder, Elazığlı auto maintenance mechanic Fatih Yalçınkaya reminded that antifreeze costs around one thousand liras. He said that if maintenance is not done, the engine block may need to be removed due to freezing water in winter, and that this repair costs approximately 60 thousand liras.

In Elazığ, auto maintenance master Fatih Yalçınkaya, addressing drivers who have vehicles as the weather gets colder, called on them not to avoid 1,000-lira antifreeze and end up with a 60,000-lira expense.

With freezing incidents occurring in vehicles during the winter months, drivers headed to the repair shops to have their vehicles' winter maintenance done. Repair shop tradesmen trying to keep up with customers' demands warned citizens about winter maintenance. Stating that antifreeze currently costs 1,000 lira, auto maintenance master Fatih Yalçınkaya noted that if maintenance is not done, citizens could face an expense of approximately 60,000 lira.

ANTIFREEZE PRICE VARIES BY COLOR

Emphasizing that winter maintenance involves checking antifreeze, battery and oil maintenance, auto maintenance master Fatih Yalçınkaya said, 'If anything is missing, it is added. Then the battery and antifreeze values are measured. We send the vehicles from here ready for winter. Antifreeze is very important in winter. It is better for the engine to run on antifreeze rather than water. In addition, the vehicle's battery also needs to be good. Every car's antifreeze is different. Some are blue and some are red; blue antifreeze is around 700 lira, while red or pink is around 1,000 lira.'

IF MAINTENANCE IS NOT DONE, THE ENGINE BLOCK IS DISASSEMBLED

Yalçınkaya said, 'If antifreeze is not added, it causes corrosion in the engine section of the vehicle. In winter, blockages occur especially in heaters due to limescale. Adding antifreeze is the most sensible way. At least you protect the engine. When the opposite is done, the engine block is disassembled, especially in winter months due to water freezing. Today, disassembling and repairing an engine block costs approximately 60,000 lira. These figures also vary from master to master. Citizens think, I won't have the 1,000-lira maintenance done, but when they leave the antifreeze in place, they complete the winter season without problems. Antifreeze always protects the engine. Citizens should not avoid 1,000 lira and end up with a 60,000-lira expense.'
