In his defense, Dr. Gülçin said, 'I requested money from my patients not because of financial insufficiency, but due to my misplaced ambitions. I have disgraced my family.'
The Anatolian Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into allegations that bribes were taken from patients who were to undergo surgery at Üsküdar State Hospital. During the investigations, doctors Gürkan Örskıran and Cem Gülçin were detained for allegedly illegally demanding extra fees from patients for surgical procedures. "I DO NOT HAVE ANY MATERIALS BROUGHT FROM OUTSIDE"
In his defense, Doctor Gürkan Örskıran said, "In the surgeries I have performed at the hospital, I do not have any materials brought from outside that are not available within the state hospital. I operate on my patients with the tools and equipment available within the state hospital. As far as I know, the laser device called 'Holep' you asked me about is not used by any state hospital."
"I AM VERY SORRY"
Doctor Cem Gülçin said in his defense, "When I think about my entire past during my detention, I realized that this interaction with patients was not ethical or moral. I am very sorry for the situation I am in. I demanded money from my patients not because my finances were insufficient, but due to misplaced ambitions. I feel ashamed towards my family. I am very sorry, there is nothing else to add."
