After Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to tanker traffic, alleging a clear violation of US commitments, US President Donald Trump made a notable statement. Trump stated that no transit fees would be imposed in the Strait of Hormuz during the 60-day ceasefire with Iran, and that if the agreement is not finalized after this period, such fees could only be levied by the United States.

In the renewed diplomatic traffic between the US and Iran, statements from both sides continue to come in different directions.

TRUMP: NO TRANSIT FEES WILL BE CHARGED FOR 60 DAYS

While tensions remain high in the region, Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed to tanker passage, alleging that the US has clearly violated its commitments. US President Donald Trump, however, said that no transit fees will be applied in the Strait of Hormuz during the 60-day ceasefire process reached with Iran.

"IF THE AGREEMENT IS NOT COMPLETED, ONLY THE US CAN CHARGE FEES"

Trump stated that if the agreement is not completed after this period expires, these fees can only be applied by the US. In a statement on his social media account, Trump addressed possible scenarios after the specified period, saying, "If the agreement is not completed after the 60-day period ends, no transit fees will be charged except those applied to cover past, present, and future costs for services provided as a 'Guardian Angel' to Middle Eastern countries by and for the benefit of the United States."

IRAN: WE HAVE CLOSED THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ

Iran announced that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed due to Israel's attacks on Lebanon. In a statement from the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the combat unit of the Iranian Armed Forces, it was said: "Due to the United States' clear violation of its commitments and its failure to implement the first article of the agreement on ending the war; and in response to Israel's continuous and persistent violations of the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, resulting in the brutal killing and displacement of hundreds of thousands of people in that oppressed country, as well as the failure of the occupation forces to withdraw from southern Lebanon, we declare that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed to ship traffic and maritime navigation. We emphasize that this step is the first phase of the response to the enemy's violation of its obligations. If attacks continue, additional steps will be planned and implemented to force the enemy to comply with its commitments."

US MILITARY: STRAIT OF HORMUZ OPEN TO COMMERCIAL SHIP PASSAGE

However, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the Strait of Hormuz is open. In the CENTCOM statement, which made no reference to Iran's latest statement on the Strait, it was stated that commercial ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has continued to increase as of June 20. The statement said, "Today, with the passage of 55 commercial ships, the safe transit capability in the international waterway was maintained, and these ships carried large amounts of cargo and over 17 million barrels of oil to global markets." The US military also added in its statement that it continues its mission in the region to ensure safe transits.

VICE PRESIDENT JD VANCE: TALKS COULD HAPPEN TOMORROW

US Vice President JD Vance said, "Talks with Iran could happen on Sunday (tomorrow). I plan to travel to Switzerland in a few days. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are on the ground for Iran talks. I am confident we can maintain the ceasefire conditions. There is no evidence that Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz."
