Vanspor, the TFF 1. Lig representative, was playing its matches in Akhisar due to the demolition of its stadium. Vanspor Chairman Özgür İreç İlhan announced that they want to play their home matches in Diyarbakır and Batman.
While the stadium problem at Vanspor, a TFF 1. Lig representative that also competed in the Süper Lig in past years, remains a hot topic, the club management has set a new road map for home matches following intense calls from fans. In the red-and-black team, which has had to play its home matches in Akhisar, eyes have once again turned to the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
THE AKHISAR SOLUTION DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS
Because its stadium was demolished, Vanspor has had to play its matches in Akhisar, a district of Manisa, and this situation led to the team being deprived of fan support. Wanting to have the power and atmosphere of the stands behind it once again, the management has put stadiums in the region's provinces on its agenda in order to make access to matches easier.
TARGET: DIYARBAKIR AND BATMAN
In his assessment of the matter, Vanspor President Özgür İreç İlhan recalled that when they took office, the agreement for Akhisar Stadium had already been made. Emphasizing that they cannot remain indifferent to the fans' demands, İlhan said, "Our fans who have devoted their hearts to the red-and-black colors have a very serious demand. We are taking steps and making an intense effort to play our matches in our own region. After completing the necessary infrastructure and preparations, we will submit our official applications. Our plan is to play some of our home matches in Diyarbakır and some in Batman."
OFFICIAL APPLICATION WILL BE MADE TO TFF
Believing that moving its home matches to Diyarbakır and Batman will provide the team with a strong fan driving force, the Vanspor management will knock on the door of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) after completing the procedures. If the application is approved, Vanspor will play some of its remaining home matches in the league in these two cities.
