As tensions in the Strait of Hormuz push Brent crude oil to $109, a 2-lira increase in gasoline prices is expected; due to the flexible tax system, only about 50 kuruş of the hike will be reflected at the pump.

The increase in oil prices due to developments in the Middle East continues to be reflected in fuel prices. Supply risks in the Strait of Hormuz have driven prices up.

BRENT OIL ABOVE $109

Risks to the supply chain and attacks on energy infrastructure in the Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 30% of the world's oil supply passes, have increased prices. Brent oil, which was at $70 before the conflict, rose to $109.74 as of this morning.

GASOLINE EXPECTED TO INCREASE BY 2 LIRA

According to information from industry sources, a 2 lira increase in the gasoline group is expected to take effect as of Thursday, May 7, 2026. It was stated that 75% of this increase will be covered by the Special Consumption Tax under the Equalization Mobile System, while the remaining 25% will be reflected in pump prices. Accordingly, the increase reflected to consumers for gasoline will be approximately 50 kuruş.
