The German car manufacturer Volkswagen announced that it will recall 114,478 vehicles in the United States due to an issue related to the airbag. The problem concerns a potential explosion risk in the driver-side airbag inflator of certain model vehicles.

It has been reported that the German car manufacturer Volkswagen will recall 114,478 vehicles in the United States due to an issue with the airbag.

In a statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), it was noted that the decision affects the 2017-2019 model Beetle, Beetle Convertible, 2012-2014 Passat, 2017 Passat Wagon, and 2006-2007 Passat Sedan vehicles.

114 THOUSAND VEHICLES WILL BE RECALLED

The statement announced that Volkswagen will recall a total of 114,478 vehicles. It was noted in the statement that there is an issue with the airbag in the affected vehicles, indicating that the driver-side front airbag inflator could explode due to propellant degradation when exposed to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high-temperature cycles for an extended period. The statement mentioned that the explosion of the inflator could result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other passengers, leading to serious injuries or death.
