SIGNING CEREMONY FOR SERGEN YALÇIN IN RIVA
The Sergen Yalçın era is beginning for the Turkish National Football Team. A signing ceremony is being held at the Turkish Football Federation’s center in Riva for the experienced coach appointed as head coach of the crescent-and-star team. TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu and Sergen Yalçın made statements at the ceremony.
“HE DID NOT PUT FINANCIAL MATTERS AT THE FOREFRONT”
Hacıosmanoğlu began his speech by stating that they were proud to entrust the National Team to a Turkish head coach again after five years, and said they trusted Yalçın’s football knowledge and experience.
The TFF President said, “The fact that our coach did not put financial matters at the forefront when accepting this duty is an indication of his desire and goals for the National Team. We will work together for success.” Hacıosmanoğlu also expressed their belief that Yalçın would lead the National Team to its goals.
SERGEN YALÇIN: ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT DAYS OF MY LIFE
Turkish National Team Head Coach Sergen Yalçın said, “I thank the president and the board. I also proudly wore the national jersey during my playing career. One of the most important days of my career... The National Team is above everything. We believe we will experience very successful days. We need everyone on this path. I hope very beautiful days await us.”
“I AM THE COACH OF THE PEOPLE”
To the question “Coach, the ‘Bizim Çocuklar’ concept has been damaged. How will you fix this?” Sergen Yalçın replied, “I don’t think it has been damaged that much. In football, sometimes things go well, sometimes they go badly. We will prioritize feelings such as the National Team spirit and acting together. I am the coach of the people... We need everyone on this path. The desire for and interest in the National Team will return. Our people will once again chase after the National Team. This is not an easy process. There is the European Championship and the World Cup. While talking with our president, we took these into account. The time is just enough to get there. I believe we will create that excitement together.”
“IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE COACH IS TURKISH”
Sergen Yalçın said, “I think it is important that the coach is Turkish. Because our players are Turkish too... The door of the National Team is open to everyone... You can always ask what you want. Our door is open to everyone, to all players... Everyone can be comfortable.”
“THERE WILL BE THE MOST CORRECT, FAIREST SQUAD”
The experienced coach said, “We will make National Team selections; these can be discussed. We will work on how we can reach results with the most correct and fairest squad. Our people need to pursue the National Team and be happy with successes. We will try to unite the people behind the National Team through successes. The National Team is above everything; there is no guaranteed place here. Everyone will come with that mindset. I am excited too; I am taking on the biggest task. We will be together when doing something. You will be by our side. Our people will also be behind us, and together we will achieve things.”
“I EXCHANGED IDEAS WITH SOME PLAYERS”
The coach of our National Team said, “I spoke with some players. We exchanged ideas. Our situation in the Nations League is not good. We will make those plans starting today. I will not talk about players and the format today. Today is another day, the signing day...”
“BERKE ÖZER REALLY WANTS TO COME; WE CAN SOLVE IT”
Sergen Yalçın said, “There is an issue regarding Berke Özer that existed before us. Players can make mistakes from time to time. Berke also really wants to come to the National Team. These are not unsolvable problems. We can solve them all easily. It is also our duty to bring our young players back into the National Team.”
