Nine people have died and 2,800 people have been injured so far as a result of the simultaneous detonation of communication devices used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon. MOSSAD ALLEGEDLY INVOLVEDIn a press conference on the detonation of communication devices, Lebanese Health Minister Firas el-Ebyad emphasized that most of the injuries occurred in the "hand or abdomen area." While the echoes of the attack, which shocked the world, continue, it is alleged that Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad, placed explosives in the batteries of the communication devices used by Hezbollah in Lebanon. MINISTER Uraloğlu ANSWERED THE QUESTION ON THE AGENDAAfter the attack in Lebanon, there was curiosity about the possibility of a similar attack in Turkey, and the expected answer came from the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu. "I CAN SAY THAT THERE IS NO RISK IN TURKEY"Minister Uraloğlu said, "Communication devices are hardly used in Turkey. In terms of communication devices, I can clearly say that there is no risk in Turkey." Highlights from Uraloğlu's statements are as follows; "Mobile communication devices, which we mostly refer to as cell phones, can be tracked with certain technologies and systems. Certain contents such as who communicates with whom can be tracked. Therefore, organizations and groups that want to avoid this prefer to use communication devices instead. They communicate with radio waves, and tracking them is not easy in this sense. That's why we receive information that this is the case in Lebanon and also in Syria. We have information or rather speculation that Hezbollah uses them to avoid this tracking, or we can say information." "WE ARE DISCUSSING THE ISSUE WITH OUR CYBERSECURITY EXPERTS"An explosion of so many devices at the same time, resulting in the death of 9 people and harm to many people's body parts, is truly a major incident. Of course, it is wondered how this happened. We are discussing the issue with our cybersecurity experts. We are trying to understand. We are trying to figure out what the devices are from the images. Our colleagues are considering two possible scenarios. One is that it is already known that Hezbollah uses these devices. I am also saying that it is possible that Israel knew about them and equipped them with explosives as they wished during the renewal process. We can say that they distributed or purchased these devices and that they could be detonated with a signal at the same time or with very short intervals." The second possibility is what we think is a bit more secondary. That is, the explosion occurs as a result of short-circuiting and heating the batteries with some signals. We have seen batteries explode in phone repair shops or in people's pockets. There has never been a fatal outcome or significant injury. There have been small fires, minor injuries. That's why the first possibility we mentioned seems a bit stronger. In other words, an explosive was probably placed inside. These devices are not common in Turkey. They are hardly used. If we remember, they existed before cell phones came out or before they became widespread. I have never come across them, to be honest. I can say that they are not used in general. Therefore, I can say that there is no risk in Turkey in terms of these communication devices." "NO COUNTRY IN THE WORLD PRODUCES 100% OF A DEVICE"The more we nationalize and localize our country, the safer we will feel. We have made serious progress in this regard, from the software to the production of devices. No country in the world produces 100% of a device. But they are making efforts to produce their own main components, especially the software. We are also striving to do this in Turkey. When we achieve this, we will be safer. On the one hand, we are in cooperation with both our Ministry's Information Technologies and Communication Authority and all other relevant institutions of our state regarding cybersecurity. We are in cooperation from the publication of the cybersecurity strategy document to the restructurings, as I said, with both security organizations and other stakeholders. We did not anticipate such a thing, to be honest." "WE ARE AMONG THE TOP 10 COUNTRIES IN TERMS OF CYBERSECURITY"Citizens should not worry. We prevent more than 400 major attacks of this kind every day, imagine. Therefore, at this stage, I can say that we are among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of cybersecurity. I can say that there is no need to worry. But I would like to emphasize that there is still a lot of work to be done.
