AK Party Batman MP Ferhat Nasıroğlu made statements regarding the actions that began with five workers whose employment contracts were terminated after their rights were paid due to disciplinary offenses at Fernas Mining. He said, "These five individuals are calling in others from outside, suddenly increasing their number to 60, breaking down the door, and occupying the premises of the business. There are some marginal groups in the background. They are inciting our working colleagues against the place where they work."

AK Party Batman Deputy Ferhat Nasıroğlu responded to the criticisms directed at a mining company operating in the Soma district of Manisa. In a press conference held in the Parliament, Nasıroğlu made statements regarding the Soma mining site owned by Fernas İnşaat and the allegations concerning the workers there.

THEY MADE SERIOUS INVESTMENTS IN THE REGION

Stating that they have been active in the mining sector in the Soma district of Manisa for 10 years, Nasıroğlu explained the investments made by the company. He mentioned that two projects are being carried out in the region, with the second project currently in the preparation phase, and expressed that approximately 500 people are working on this project. Ferhat Nasıroğlu noted that they have made an investment of approximately 6 billion 700 million lira and that an additional investment of about 1.5 billion lira will be made.

"THEY ARE POINTING FINGERS AND INSULTING US"

Indicating that Fernas İnşaat was founded by his father Necat Nasıroğlu, Nasıroğlu stated that he resigned from his duties in the company after entering politics. He also evaluated the requests for meetings from the Independent Mining Workers Union and the workers, saying, "The top-level executives of the company were in Soma. They invited these working friends as well. Our door is always open to employees. Our door is not closed to anyone. But we do not want to talk to those who maliciously point fingers at us and insult us. The mining site of Fernas İnşaat, founded by my esteemed businessman father Nejat Nasıroğlu, who is mentioned in the news sites and is associated with the media to create a sensational story, and the workers there are occupying the agenda. Even though I am not the manager of the company, I felt the need to make a statement when the issue was consolidated in the media," he said.

"THEY ARE BREAKING IN AND OCCUPYING THE FACILITY"

Referring to the mining company's production in the coal basin in Soma for 10 years, Nasıroğlu stated, "We have pioneered coal mining in Soma. Over the 10-year period, we have 2,500 working brothers here. We have two separate mining projects. We provide 34% of the coal we produce here to the state. So far, we have spent approximately 6 billion 700 million TL on the total investment made by Fernas... Recently, there has been disinformation about me on social media and television regarding the company. Why did it come to this? There are 500 people working at the workplace where Fernas operates in the Soma basin. A group of employees who did not comply with work discipline had their employment contracts terminated due to disciplinary offenses, and their legal rights have been paid. There are 5 people. One person was not continued in employment because he was not deemed suitable during the probation period. Somehow, these 5 people are seriously coming in front of this facility, calling in others from outside, and suddenly increasing to 60 people, breaking the door and occupying the inside of the facility. If you are entering a business illegally, the law clearly defines that," he said.

"WE HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE UNIONS"

Denying the allegations that workers were fired for being unionized, Nasıroğlu stated, "In our two projects here, we have 2,100 unionized employees. We have no problem with the unions. The unions are revealing different intentions here," he said.

"THEY ARE INSTIGATING THE WORKERS"

Stating that some political figures are threatening the workers, Nasıroğlu said, "Some political figures are emerging, instigating the workers... Some political figures who do not know the way to our facility for 10 years are appearing. Movements are being made towards the facility together with the workers. These friends are being directed. In the background, some marginal groups are constantly delaying these friends. They give them hope. We are in contact with them. They are instigating our working friends against their workplace. They are instigating their families and children. An authorized union has emerged. They are not in a position to negotiate with our company. They say, 'We are complaining about working conditions and job security.' There are false statements... Statements are being made on social media, and a certain group of the press is constantly processing this," he said.

THE MINISTRY CONDUCTED AN INSPECTION, THE REPORT WAS POSITIVE

Stating that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security conducted an inspection at the mine, Nasıroğlu said, "The Ministry of Labor recently conducted an on-site inspection regarding job safety. The report is quite positive; there is nothing preventing underground work. Work has been done here for 5 years. There has not been a single fatal work accident. There has been no loss of limbs or work accidents. This indicates that there are serious measures regarding job safety. There may be people who want to sabotage this work. These are exceptional cases. This is definitely a lie and a setup," he said.

"BOMBS WERE THROWN AT OUR HOUSE, OUR MACHINES WERE BURNED"

Regarding the allegations of worker purges in the mine, Nasıroğlu said, "Completely false," and continued: "To work underground, you need to earn at least two minimum wages. Is it being paid? Yes, it is being paid. There is a mentality behind this trying to disrupt labor peace. This claim is definitely not true. Everyone is getting their rights. The most primed thing... A miner working somewhere is a producing business. Against this, politically, a name is created that can be 'quickly bought.' An impression is being created that worker purges are taking place here. Completely false. Some people are pointing fingers at us on social media; we will not bow to those who point fingers; this is my message. We have faced such things in the past. Bombs were thrown at our house. Our machines were burned, our workers were kidnapped. We received threats and death letters. We never took a step back. We continued to produce and invest. My message to those who point fingers is this: you cannot intimidate us. You cannot scare us. In the century of Turkey, we have taken on a special mission to advance this country, and we will work hard for that."
