The countdown has begun for the July salary update, which millions of SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees have been eagerly awaiting. Social Security Expert İsa Karakaş evaluated the latest scenarios discussed in Ankara's circles and the finalized figures. Experts, noting that the 12.19% increase in January has eroded against inflation, point to an 18% level for the July raise.

5-MONTH INFLATION FINALIZED: EYES ON JUNE DATA

According to the latest data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the 5-month cumulative inflation, which forms the basis of the raise retirees will receive, has been finalized at 16.60%. Now, attention has turned to the June inflation data, which will clarify the raise rate.

STRONGEST SCENARIO ON THE TABLE: 18.37% RAISE

According to calculations based on the Central Bank's Market Participants Survey data, June inflation is expected to be at 1.52%. If this estimate materializes, the cumulative increase reflected in retiree salaries in July will be 18.37%. Social Security Expert İsa Karakaş stated that the final raise rate on the table will take shape between the 17.5% and 19% range, with the general expectation in Ankara concentrated at the 18% level.

MINIMUM RETIREE SALARY COULD BE 23,600 TL

Calculations have also been made for the "minimum retiree salary," one of the topics retirees are most curious about. If the current system continues unchanged:

  • The minimum retiree pension, currently set at 20,000 TL,
  • Will rise to approximately 23,600 TL with the inflation difference update in July.

PROFIT SHARE AND ADDITIONAL RAISE UNLIKELY

On the other hand, negative signals are coming from Ankara's circles regarding retirees' expectations for a profit share or additional raise beyond the inflation difference. Sector representatives and experts state that due to current budget balances and tight economic policies, the possibility of an extra additional arrangement beyond the mandatory legal inflation difference increase is quite weak.
