REFEREE WARNED, ISMAIL WENT TO THE STANDS
The referee of the match spoke with Fenerbahçe captain İsmail Yüksek and requested that the fans be calmed down. After İsmail went to the stands to issue a warning, the game resumed and the situation was brought under control.
POSTPONED PENALTY CAME TO THE AGENDA
Following the incidents, the penalty previously imposed by UEFA was brought back to the agenda. After the events that occurred during the away match against Viktoria Plzen in the 4th week of the Europa League, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Board imposed a total fine of 78,000 euros on Fenerbahçe for racist and discriminatory behavior, damage to facilities, use of flares, throwing objects onto the pitch, and inappropriate conduct by the team.
The board also decided to ban ticket sales to fans for the next away match, but suspended this penalty for a two-year monitoring period. After the incidents in Nottingham, it became a matter of curiosity whether the postponed penalty would come into effect.
