The interim Prime Minister of Syria, Muhammad Al-Bashir, gave an interview to the Italian media regarding the situation in the country. Prime Minister Al-Bashir stated about the economic situation, "There is very little or no value in the treasury, only Syrian pounds. We have no foreign currency, and as for loans and bonds, we are still collecting data. So we are in a very bad financial situation. We will only stay until March 2025. The debt is huge, the difficulties are enormous, but we have the successful experience of Idlib. We can develop Syria. It will take time, but we will get there."
CALL FOR SYRIANS TO "RETURN TO YOUR COUNTRY"
Al-Bashir referred to the three goals of his interim government, which will serve until March 1, stating, "The first is to restore security and stability in all cities of Syria. People are exhausted from injustice and oppression. The state authority must be re-established so that people can return to their jobs and normal lives. The second is to bring back millions of Syrians living abroad. Their human capital and experiences will contribute to the country's development. My call to all Syrians abroad: Syria is now a free country that has regained its pride and honor. Return. We must rebuild, we must be reborn, and we need everyone's help."
"BASIC SERVICES LIKE ELECTRICITY, BREAD, AND WATER WILL BE PROVIDED"
Stating that their third goal is strategic planning, Prime Minister Al-Bashir said, "Syrians cannot live with the insecurity of basic services like electricity, bread, and water. We are a transitional government, but we must start working on this. When we entered Aleppo, Hama, and Damascus, Syrians were living in double darkness, the darkness of the regime and the darkness caused by power outages. This is absolutely unacceptable."
"WE WILL GUARANTEE THE RIGHTS OF ALL SECTS"
Al-Bashir stated, "We will guarantee the rights of all peoples and all sects in Syria." Referring to the government's foreign policy, Al-Bashir said, "We have no problem with any state, party, or sect that stays away from the bloodthirsty Assad regime." Al-Bashir emphasized that many Syrians have been tortured, arrested, and killed since the uprising against the Assad regime began in 2011, and that those responsible will be tried according to Syrian laws.
CLAIM THAT ASSAD FLED WITH 135 BILLION DOLLARS
Halid Beyye from the regime's intelligence stated that Assad, who fled Syria after the regime's downfall, took 135 billion dollars with him, saying, "There was a very big reckoning before the last fall. There was a great struggle between the Russia-aligned commanders and the Iran-backed command hierarchy."
