The statements of Yeter U. and Gökçe U., who were noticed while trying to open the door of a house in Adana and caught by the residents, have emerged. The two suspects, one of whom, Yeter U., threw herself to the ground and struggled upon being caught, claiming she had an epileptic seizure, were found with a lockpick said to be used for opening doors. The two women, who have a total of 100 separate criminal records, claimed they were not there for theft but had gone out to collect aid for those in need. Both suspects were arrested.
Statements have emerged from Yeter U. (26), who threw herself to the ground and started thrashing after being caught by neighborhood residents while trying to enter a house to steal in Adana, and her friend Gökçe U. (24), who claimed she was an epileptic patient. The 2 arrested suspects claimed they were out collecting aid to distribute to those in need.
SHE THREW HERSELF TO THE GROUND AND THRASHED
The incident occurred at around 15:30 on August 31 in the Küçükdikili neighborhood of Seyhan district. Gökçe U. and Yeter U. tried to open the door of Fatma Kılavuz's house. When Kılavuz noticed the situation and came to the front of her house, the suspects fled. The neighborhood residents chased and caught the suspects. At that moment, Yeter U. threw herself to the ground and began thrashing. Gökçe U. claimed her friend was an epileptic patient having a seizure and asked for an ambulance. Fatma Kılavuz, however, reacted by claiming the women were faking it and recorded the moments with her mobile phone.
LOCKPICKS WERE FOUND ON THEM
Following Kılavuz's report, police teams were dispatched to the area. Meanwhile, Yeter U. was seen to have regained consciousness. Police searching the suspects seized lockpicks stated to be used for opening doors. It was determined that among the detained suspects, Yeter U. had records for 80 separate offenses and Gökçe U. for 20. Fatma Kılavuz stated that burglars had entered her home 3 months earlier and stolen gold and jewelry worth approximately 1.5 million lira, and filed a complaint against the suspects. It was reported that the suspects, taken to the police station, claimed in their statements that their purpose was not theft, but that they had gone out to collect aid to distribute to those in need. After their procedures, Yeter U. and Gökçe U., who were sent to the courthouse, were arrested by the court they were brought before.
