Fahrettin Altun, a professor of communication sciences, completed his doctoral education at Istanbul University. Having conducted academic studies in the United States for a period, Altun took on various roles at different universities after returning to Turkey.
Altun served as a faculty member at Istanbul Şehir University, Istanbul Medeniyet University, and Ibn Khaldun University. He also held positions as department head and dean at these institutions.

PUBLIC DUTIES
Fahrettin Altun was appointed as the President of the Presidency of Communication on July 25, 2018.
Later, on July 10, 2025, he was appointed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the President of the Turkish Human Rights and Equality Institution.
With the latest decision published in the Official Gazette, Altun has been assigned as Turkey's Ambassador to the Vatican.
