While the deaths of three people on a cruise ship due to hantavirus have caused global concern, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made striking statements about the virus. Confirming that 5 of the 8 cases reported on the ship sailing in the Atlantic were hantavirus, Ghebreyesus also stated that they have informed 12 countries, including Turkey, about the outbreak.
