Necmettin Uzun, a 70-year-old man living alone in Samsun, was killed after being stabbed and struck on the head with a stool. It was revealed that the arrested suspect, Ertan B., had an extensive criminal record including robbery, theft, and assault. It was determined that the killer had followed the victim from the moment he saw him at a restaurant and noticed his wallet.
It has been revealed that the suspect, who was detained and arrested in connection with the killing of 70-year-old Necmettin Uzun, who lived alone in the Canik district of Samsun and was killed by multiple stab wounds and being hit on the head with a stool, has an extensive criminal record. It was learned that the suspect had been arrested for robbery in Izmir approximately 3 months before the murder, and after being released from prison, he was taken into custody in Sinop for car theft and released under judicial control.
RELATIVE SUSPECTED WHEN LIGHTS REMAINED ON FOR A LONG TIME
The incident occurred on August 7, 2026, at around 23:30 in the Teknepınar neighborhood of the Canik district. Kamil Ö., a relative of Necmettin Uzun, a father of one who made his living by collecting paper and lived alone, noticed that the lights in Uzun's house had been on for a long time and went to the house with a relative to check on him. After Kamil Ö. entered the house using the key on the outer door, he saw that there was heavy smoke inside and flames rising from a pan on the stove in the kitchen, and the situation was reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
FOUND COVERED IN BLOOD IN THE KITCHEN
Upon the report, police, health, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene. In the initial examination, it was determined that after Uzun lost his life, the chicken cooking on the stove burned, causing the house to fill with heavy smoke and a fire to break out. However, during the teams' examination, Necmettin Uzun was found lying on the floor in the kitchen, covered in blood. It was determined that Uzun had received multiple stab wounds and had been hit on the head with a wooden stool referred to as a "sekmen."
POLICE TRACKED THE KILLER THROUGH SECURITY CAMERAS
In order to solve the murder, teams from the Samsun Police Department's Public Order Branch Directorate launched an investigation. In the teams' examinations, it was determined that the suspect in the incident was Ertan B. It was determined that the suspect left Samsun after the incident and changed his appearance by dyeing his hair and beard while fleeing. As a result of Samsun police examining security camera footage around the crime scene and tracking the suspect's trail backwards, the identity of the person considered to be the perpetrator of the murder was determined. Through coordination established with the Trabzon Police Department, Ertan B. was apprehended in Trabzon. The suspect, brought to Samsun, was referred to the Samsun Courthouse after legal proceedings. Ertan B., who gave his statement to the duty court and has an extensive criminal record, was arrested and sent to Samsun T-Type Closed Penitentiary.
EXTENSIVE CRIMINAL RECORD REVEALED
It was learned that Ertan B. was involved in a robbery incident that occurred in Izmir on May 11, 2026, and was arrested and sent to prison by the court he was brought before. It was determined that after being released from prison, the suspect went to Sinop, where he was involved in the theft of an automobile on August 5, 2026, and after being caught, he was released by the court under judicial control. It was learned that the suspect has an extensive criminal record for robbery, intentional injury, weapons, and theft offenses. It was also determined that Ertan B. came to Samsun with the intention of theft and had no acquaintances in the city.

It emerged that Samsun police, based on security camera footage around the house where the murder was committed, found in their retrospective examinations that the suspect had been following the victim from the moment he saw him at a restaurant and noticed his wallet, and that thanks to the obtained footage, they quickly determined the suspect's identity and ensured his capture.
