It has been determined that Agop Degirmencioglu, an Armenian national found dead in his home in Istanbul's Beyoglu district, was murdered. It was established that his neighbor, Mehmet Serif Tayik, who called the police saying a bad smell was coming from Degirmencioglu's apartment, killed his neighbor with numerous stab wounds. The suspect, who was detained by Beyoglu Public Order Bureau teams and confessed to committing the murder due to a 'rent dispute,' was arrested by the court he was brought before.

HE CALLED THE POLICE SAYING 'THERE'S A BAD SMELL'
The incident occurred on August 7 in the Şehit Muhtar neighborhood. According to the information obtained, Agop Değirmencioğlu's neighbor Mehmet Şerif Tayık called the police, saying that a bad smell was coming from Değirmencioğlu's home. Upon the report, police teams dispatched to the address found Değirmencioğlu's body when they entered the house. It was detected that there were knife wounds in Değirmencioğlu's neck area. After the examination, the incident was determined to be a suspicious death. The body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue to determine the definitive cause of death.
HE CALLED THE POLICE AFTER KILLING
Teams from the Beyoğlu Public Order Bureau and Beyoğlu Public Order Branch Homicide Bureau, who launched an investigation into Agop Değirmencioğlu's death, determined during their examinations that Değirmencioğlu was killed with numerous knife wounds. Following this, the teams identified that his neighbor Mehmet Şerif Tayık, who had reported the bad smell to the police, had committed the murder. Mehmet Şerif, determined to have stabbed Agop Değirmencioğlu to death in his home, was taken into custody by police teams.
"THERE WAS A RENT DISPUTE BETWEEN US"
It was learned that suspect Mehmet Şerif Tayık said in his statement to the police, "There was a rent dispute between us. I was subjected to severe insults. I killed Agop Değirmencioğlu by stabbing him."
ARRESTED
The suspect Mehmet Şerif Tayık, who was sent to the courthouse after his police statement procedures, was arrested by the court he was brought before and sent to prison. The investigation into the murder continues.
