After the coup attempt on July 15, 2016, 32 military hospitals located in 26 provinces across Turkey were closed and transferred to the Ministry of Health.
Most recently, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, in response to a question regarding the issue in 2023, stated, "Believe me, we are making efforts every day for the reopening of military hospitals, but this is a process, meaning that it is certain that they will eventually be opened. We firmly believe that - I will also present what is being done now - all of these will be done in turn." However, no steps have been taken regarding the issue since that date.
MHP Kahramanmaraş Deputy Zuhal Karakoç Dora. ATTENTION-CATCHING CALL FROM MHP DEPUTY Speaking on the issue in the General Assembly of the Parliament, MHP Kahramanmaraş Deputy Zuhal Karakoç Dora stated, "The maximum needs of our soldiers, who have suffered serious injuries in operations, can only be met by military hospitals, where interventions must be made urgently by competent and experienced Turkish doctors in accordance with the requirements of military medicine."
"WE ARE THE ONLY COUNTRY IN NATO WITHOUT A MILITARY HOSPITAL" The MHP deputy expressed his call to the government by saying, "We are the only country in NATO with the highest military power and without a military hospital. The reopening of military hospitals inherited from the Ottoman Empire is our debt to our soldiers who do not abandon their homeland, which they know and love, even at the cost of their lives."
