Work has begun on the road to Nemrut Crater Lake, located in the Tatvan district of Bitlis and known as the world's second largest crater lake, where snow depth reaches 7 meters.
TEAMS ARE WORKING INTENSIVELY
While the Nemrut road was opened to traffic earlier in previous years, this year efforts have been delayed due to heavy and prolonged rainfall. Within the scope of the work carried out by Bitlis Special Provincial Administration teams, snow-fighting teams dispatched to the region are working intensively to open the road to traffic despite snow depths reaching up to 7 meters in some places.
NATURE LOVERS AWAIT THE OPENING OF THE ROAD
While the initial aim is to open the road to the summit, it has been stated that the route is planned to be completely cleared of snow within a few days. Nature lovers, eagerly awaiting the opening of the road, are preparing to visit the Nemrut Caldera, which draws attention with its unique landscape.
With the road opening to traffic, the tourism season in the region is also expected to start. Hosting domestic and foreign tourists throughout the summer season, Nemrut Caldera is among the important tourism destinations of the region with its natural beauties.
